Navel Orangeworm (NOW), Amyelois transitella, is a major pest of Almonds, Pistachios, and Walnuts in California. Trécé’s PHEROCON line of monitoring lures and traps includes several options. Ranging from standard NOW bait to pheromone-based cup lures, the NOW L2-L and NOW L2-H, and multi-gender attractants, the NOW PPO-HR L2, NOW PPO-HR L2 + NOW L2-L, and NOW PPO-HR L2 + NOW L2-H. The many options are designed to fully cover IPM program objectives.
The NOW bait is a female ovipositional attractant for use in the PHEROCON IV NOW Egg Trap. The pheromone-based NOW L2-L and NOW L2-H lures contain the NOW sex pheromone and capture only males. With the addition of PPO, the NOW PPO-HR L2 captures both genders in traps. The NOW L2-H, NOW L2-L, and PPO-HR L2 lures can be used in the following PHEROCON traps: VI DELTA, VI DELTA Modified, 1C, or 1CD QUICK-CHANGE™.
Combine NOW L2-L and NOW PPO-HR L2 lures in a single trap for optimal capture. For the highest confidence and lowest risk of damage, Trécé recommends the use of the NOW L2-L or -H lure, NOW PPO-HR L2 lure, IV NOW Egg Trap, and PREDATOR™ Trap be used in combination and incorporated into your IPM strategies at the appropriate seasonal timing.
