Trécé’s new and greatly improved monitoring system for corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea, or CEW is now available!

Combining Trécé’s new PHEROCON® GEO™ trap with their new PHEROCON CE/PVC™ CEW L2-P lure provides growers and consultants an advanced IPM tool. Trécé specifically engineered this tool for precision CEW monitoring.

Trécé is collaborating with Christophe Duplais, PhD, Associate Professor at Cornell University to ensure maximum efficacy. Together, we are fine-tuning these technologies to provide more effective precision monitoring tools in the field. Accordingly, Trécé has made multiple design changes to the PHEROCON GEO noctuid insect trap in concert with Dr. Duplais’ discoveries on insect behavior. These improvements greatly enhance CEW efficacy and broaden the trap’s utility across row crops.

Furthermore, the trap pairs seamlessly with Trécé’s new ultra-stable, season-long lure for CEW, which offers excellent versatility. Thomas Kuhar, PhD, Professor at Virginia Tech, greatly enhanced this effort through collaboration. Specifically, Dr. Kuhar conducted multiple comparative trials that confirmed the effectiveness of the new CEW lure. In addition, Trécé has also developed specific lures compatible with the GEO trap for tobacco budworm, fall armyworm, and European corn borer.

The new traps and lures are available now through Great Lakes IPM (sold separately). So, order online today or contact their team to learn more!

📋 Note: Corn earworm is one of three common names used in the USA for H. zea. The others are cotton bollworm and tomato fruitworm.
